Visual Technologies to support CH Restoration: conservation assessment and documentation
Conservation and restoration of CH assets can make profitable use of digital 3D models, but require specific tools and technologies. The talk will present some experiences of use of 3D technology to assess the conservation status or to document the restoration process. The talk will touch first the case of 3D technologies used to assess the conservation status of two painted surfaces, and then will review the work done to design a complete restoration documentation system. The latter has been implemented following the requirements of restorers, aimed at contributing to specific complex conservation project (Nettuno Fountain in Bologna). The final aim of the talk is also to discuss then potential space for the development of AI solutions for the characterisation of the conservation status of CH surfaces.
